THE EAST MIDDLESEX MOSQUITO CONTROL PROJECT

The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project was established in 1945 as a Trust Agency of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Project provides mosquito control services to 26 participating communities located west and northwest of Boston. The governing body of the Project is the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Commission which is comprised of one representative from each municipal governement. The Commission selects 5 of its members to serve on an Executive Committee, which meets on a regular basis. Funding is comprised entirely of voluntary appropriations that originate from the municipal budgets of the participating communities.

The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Commission will meet on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 10 AM in room 202 of Newton City Hall, which is located at 1000 Commonwealth Ave. in Newton, MA.

Agenda items for the meeting include a review of the Memorandum of Agreement between the Suffolk County Mosquito Control Commission and the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Commission that allows for a sharing of administrative costs and services. An update on the proposed legislation to restore the catchbasin larvicide permit. Reports on the 2012 mosquito season, changes in local mosquito populations over 30 years. Reports on the status of Project services, budget, funding and an update on the five year development plan.
