The Board of Selectmen appoints the Town Accountant.
The Town Accountant's Office maintains all the financial records for the Town. Payroll for all town and school employees and the accounts payable for all town and school departments are processed through this office. Primarily working directly with other town departments, the Accounting office has limited contact with the public.
As part of the Finance Department, this office works most closely with the Treasurer/Collector's Office, the Assessors' Office and the Information Systems Department. We also work closely with the Personnel Department tracking benefits for current employees and town and school retirees.
