The Sudbury Conservation Commission was established in 1962 to protect local natural resources and features and to act as stewards of the town's conservation properties.
One of the Conservation Commission's most important responsibilities is protecting the ecological integrity of Sudbury's wetlands and the surrounding landscape. The Commission is responsible for implementing and enforcing the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Sudbury Wetlands Administration Bylaw.
All of our meetings are open to the public and we encourage you to attend any and all meetings that might interest you.

| Question |
|---|
| How do I know if I need a wetlands permit?
Wetlands permits are required for all work within 100' of a wetland resource area and within 200' of all perennial streams. Wetlands are dynamic so the extent of wetlands change over time. As a result, the best course of action to determine if your work is within jurisdictional areas, is to begin by contacting the Conservation Commission.
Wetland maps from 1971 available in the Town Engineering office are not accurate and cannot be relied on for permitting, although they can be used for general wetland information. |
| How often does the Conservation Commission meet?
The Commission generally meets evey other Monday night at 7:00pm in the DPW Building. Often, additional meetings are held on Monday nights to accomodate the workload.
|
| Is there an area for Community Gardening in Sudbury? The Sudbury Conservation Commission provides gardening plots at the Lincoln Meadows conservation land (north side) off Lincoln Rd. Plots are 30' x 30' for $25 per season. Plots come plowed & staked with composted manure available on site. Organic and inorganic sections are available.
For an application, please call Debbie Watson at 978-440-9379 or email the Conservation Coordinator at dineend@town.sudbury.ma.us for further information. |
